MAC Matchmaster Foundation :) - A Review (Finally)

I've been meaning to write this review forever. I really have. To be honest....LAZINESS is the reason why I haven't yet made this post before now. Not to necessarily write the blog but to take proper pictures of it applied to my post so that you can have a look see. I still don't have a 'proper' show and tell picture but I have been wearing it for a while and now feel ready to give a proper review.

I purchased this foundation when I flew to Virginia in October. I've been using it daily since then and to be honest, I have a few mixed feelings about it.
  1. love the coverage. It gives a very soft, natural finish with a demi-matte finish although I think it tends to get a little too oily too fast.
  2. It's not sweat proof!! It actually causes little beads of perspiration to appear on my fore-head and upper lip.
  3. It's a great match!! And I love this. It looks as if it has the tendency to run a little too red but once it applies it looks amazing!
  4. It's long lasting. Not pro longwear type of staying power but it definitely sticks around for most of the day.
Now I still prefer the MAC Pro Longwear. Of all the MAC foundations I've tried PLW is the best yet in terms of oil control and staying power. As a matter of fact, I wish PLW applied the way Match-master did as hat would make it THE most perfect foundation ever! And yes...I do have MUFE HD and I'm not 'that' to come soon)

For the most part...I like it...will keep using it but it's not one of those 'I MUST repurchase' because I believe that there is better to be had. Dear MAC: if you could combine those two foundations, you would have hit the least with me lol

And the pic:) For reference, I'm an NC45 and I'm wearing a 7.0. My friend Sophie is on the left.

And another for good measure :)

My Christmas Wishlist

As per usual I'm making a list of the things I want to get before the year is out. I fly up to be with my guy 9 days (can you tell I'm excited? lol) and I'm making note of things I'd probably get for myself or show to him if he gets stuck! LOL. So here we go...

Love, ChloƩ
Love, Chloe is a celebration of radiant, generous, and spontaneous femininity. Its fine, powdery scent is contagious, a beauty that is free and graceful. This fragrance is inspired by the intimacy of the beauty ritual. It is a fine, powdery scent—light, sensual, and iridescent with talc and rice.

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette- No words needed :) I own the original...and told myself I didn't need this one...who was I kidding?

Return to Tiffany Bead Bracelet- I may get this myself....I've been eying this a while

I'm also in the market for a digital camera....I'm considering YT least for review purposes. I haven't seen one that catches my fancy yet though.

What's on your Christmas wishlist?

Does your lingerie match your personality?

Now it can!

I've spent a couple months checking out sites like Shoedazzle and Jewelmint that act like your personal shopper in that they offer a basic and simple personality quiz that then enables your 'personal shopper' to select items for you based on your results. I must say that they have been pretty accurate in selecting the things that i would normally choose and at times pushing me out of my comfort zone where I end up picking things that I love but may not have given a second glance before. But what about a site that helps you choose your lingerie?

That's where Adore Me comes in. They operate the same way in which the above mentioned sites do.
This is what their press kit says:

Adore Me is the first lingerie website to offer personalized shopping that fits your style and your schedule. You begin by taking our short and fun Style Quiz that allows us to fill your showroom with products we know you’ll love. Buy them all or none (you are able to skip a month if you do not wish to purchase), each set is $39.95 with free shipping and exchanges. Not only do we personalize your showroom, but we also provide a relaxing and easy-to-use website that makes browsing effortless. Malls and department stores can be so stressful and not very helpful or informative when you have questions about your intimate apparel. At Adore Me, we have a knowledgeable Stylists that can help you with any questions you may have about fitting and you won’t have to stand in line or be elbowed by angry customers. We want your shopping experience to be equally as smooth and engaging as the lingerie you choose!

How exciting is that!??!! And they have some pretty lovely stuff

Very girly!

Are you gonna check them out? What do you think of this idea?

Clarisonic Mia: Review

'You have such nice skin!' is something that I often hear from friends and strangers alike. It took me a while to be able to agree with them because you know us, those of the 'we are our own harsh critics' tribe....we can point out every flaw and every mark and everything that we wish we could change.

My skin issues are these:

I have combination skin with an oily T-zone. I have a few enlarged pores on my cheeks. I have slight discoloration/hyper-pigmentation around the mouth and I disliked the texture of my skin ESPECIALLY my forehead. I'd research for hours the best facial cleanser, day moisturizer, night cream etc in an effort to improve the way my skin looked...and yet nothing really seemed to make a major difference.

I eat well. Drink lots of water. I exercise and take my vitamins and yet.....bleh

Until i came across blogs and you-tube videos and heard testimonials from friends about the Clari-sonic. I googled and you-tubed and read everything i could on it but could not get past the price. $189.00 for a FACE BRUSH???!!??? I even considered the knock off from Sigma...heavily leaning towards it because it was a fraction of the cost and came with 3 brushes instead of one.

And then i went to visit the boy. Walked into Sephora. And that was that!

[Clari-sonic Mia]

I was able to get all pictured above (including the charging dock) for $119. Can you say BARGAIN??

And then I used it....and fell in love. Seriously. This is THE best investment I've ever made with regards to my facial cleansing routine. As usual I won't go into specifics and give you the pros and cons that other bloggers would but i will tell you what this tool has done for my skin:

1. It deep cleans your face. Seriously! My skin feels so CLEAN after every use that I don't even want to put product on it. It feels all soft and smooth and tingly...

2. My pores....are almost invisible! I mean I'll always be able t point them out to you because it's MY face but if I'm honest...they really aren't that visible anymore.

3. The discoloration around my mouth? Almost gone! I mean that was the cincher for me. My face almost looks like one even complexion and I love that.

4. The texture of my skin has improved remarkably. No more tiny bumps or that 'leathery' (over exaggerating but you know what i mean) look that I hate.

5. My foundation applies like a dream!

6. You can use it with any cleanser. I'm currently using clinique

7. I even use it to ex-foliate my lips!

and best of all?? My first day back at the office after my mini vacation 'Wow, your face looks SO good' How's THAT for a reference?

Do your research guys! I guarantee that this will simplify your skin care routine and give you amazing skin. Let me know if you decide to get it :)

Haulage: Sephora+ MAC+ MACY's

As promised, here's the haul from my trip. As it snowed most times and we were always on the road (ROAD TRIP!!) I didn't get to do as much damage as I wanted to. I only had 10 minutes in the MAC store and 10 in Sephora.

Missing from Pics: Beyonce Heat Rush and MAC's Club eye-shadow

Splurged on Skin Care. Got the Clarison Mia and I LOVE it. It was a bargain at Sephora for $119. (USD) and came with the Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel, the Dr. Denniss Gross AHA Peel Samples, the Pores No More Pore Refiner and the Peter Thomas Roth Moisturizer with spf 25. I also bought the Clinique Step 2 set.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau Fraiche, MAC Fix +, MAC Matchmaster foundation (7.0), MUFE HD Foundation (170), ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder, Maybelline The Falsies Mascara, MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick, MAC Runway Red lipstick (from Candice), Rimmel's Airy Fairy, NYC Bronzing Powder in Sunny

Swatchfest Sunday: NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil

Hey girlies. Happy Sunday :)

It's starting to cool down in these parts (as cool as the tropics can get) and I was in the midst of taking an afternoon nap when I remembered that I had a bunch of swatches to do (and I do mean a bunch!!)

I bought these lip pencils when I was on a mad hunt for the perfect red lippie and true to form I have accumulated them but hardly wear them. I swear my New Year's cosmetics resolution is to use up my stash and make room for more stuff.

Anyhoo, these babies are a lip pencil/lipstick in one and remind me a teeny bit of the NYX round lippies in terms if the consistency. They're super creamy, VERY pigmented are extremely affordable. I think they retail for around $4 USD on the NYX website (I got mine off ebay and got a deal on them as they were sold in a bundle....can't remember the price but they were about $17USD including shipping).

What I really love about these is how easy they are to use. I just dab some on and blend into my lips (finger, lipbrush etc) and I'm good to go. I do, however, think that you would still need a lip pencil with these because they are SO creamy that I don't think they work well to line your lips. Nevertheless I think these are great for the price and quite convenient to carry around for touch-ups.

On to the swatchies! Please forgive any fuzz that you see. I took these before I did my hair removal (eek!)

Deep Red (709), Hot Red (704), Iced Coffee (711), Fuschia (721), Plus Red (712), Hera (722)

Jordana Easyshine Glossy Lipcolor : A review

Now this review has been a long time coming. I bought these a few months ago but never got around to rocking them on a regular because I've really been into BOLD lipsticks but as it's been getting more difficult for me to spend a lot of time in the morning to do my make-up (I go to the gym, shower and then work so MU is being kept at a minimum) I decided to pop these into my MU bag to use during the week.

Ironically, another blogger in my feed blogged about them today so I'll link the post at the end of the blog.
Now the Jordana Easyshine Glossy lip colors are a balm/gloss/lipstick kinda product. Confusing? Not really. They moisturize like a lip-balm, have enough pigmentation to make you look like you're wearing lipstick (think MAC lustre finishes) and have a bit of a gloss to it it give your lips that juicy look. I bought them during my last visit to Trinidad and paid about $20.00TT per pop. They retail for $1.99USD on the Jordana website and in most Walgreens

I have three colors: Sugar Cookie, Berry Colada and Sweet Strawberry.

Sugar Cookie, Sweet Strawberry, Berry Colada

Rockin' Berry Colada (BB pics suck!!)

These have such a pleasant taste and a bit of gold refelcts to give it that glossy look. Nothing too overpowering ad nothing you can feel when you rub your lips together. I LOVE them and will definitely be collecting these whenever I spot them.

You can check out Beauty Judy's review on these. She has MUCH better swatches!

Have a wonderful Friday loves
