Teeny tiny update!

I'm ecstatic! I've finally broken through my weight plateau. I've been a bit hum drum lately because I've been eating right, exercising daily and and drinking loads of water and my weight had stabilized after losing about 7lbs. I wasn't sure what else to do other than press on. And I'm glad I did. I FINALLY broke the plateau, losing 3lbs from the weight I had stabilized at *happy dance* I'm not sure what I did and chances are it could be just water weight because I haven't been to the gym for the week (laziness). So this is definitely motivation to keep going!

Also, I'm not ready to post my start weight as yet. I've set a short terms goal for myself that ends on August 11th and I'm hoping to shed a certain amount of weight by then but let's just say that my start weight is definitely the heaviest I have ever been in life, ever. I am., however, keeping track of the changes on Fit Day so a post with all the changes is possible in the future!

That's it for that! Have a great day loves!

Summer Reads: The Shopaholic Series

So I've been reading a lot lately ever since I've found this amazing that that allows me to download books for free.I think I mentioned it on
this blog before but if you can't be arsed to go and look for it leave me a comment and I'll respond with the link. Anyhoo, I've be reading a ton of chick-lit lately because I'm on vacation and need the brain candy lol.
First up are the Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella. I've read them all and found them to be great reads if you're looking for something that's funny and a bit easy to wrap your brain around. Well a lot easy. Kinsella's style is easily identifiable and every book is pretty much the same. You have your heroine Rebecca Bloomwood who has a serious shopping addiction. She buys what she needs. And what she doesn't need. And drives herself into debt in the process. At first I found her addictions to be identifiable. I mean we all make purchases that can be a bit senseless at times *eyes growing lipstick collection that is hardly worn* even when we don't need them but after a while Becky's irresponsibility attends to get on your nerves (well mine anyway). She can be a bit shallow and selfish and downright annoying especially when it comes to her boyfriend turned fiance turned husband (which really cements the fact that men go for ditzy chicks but that's another post). Her annoying tendencies aside, the books themselves lack any real plot but I find myself needing to finish them once I've started lol.

I'd definitely recommend if yo just end a light beach read or something to pass the time at the Doctor's office.

I Love these pencils. I've been using them as bases and as eye-liners that I smudge to get that smokey effect. They're creamy and long-lasting and do not crease (on me) or budge when I put them on.  I tried picking out faves but I couldn't. I love them all!

The Gym Thing (and a little bit of a rant)

So I'm that girl that's always on a diet. Always working out. I've been on both ends of the scale (really heavy/really skinny) but I'm naturally a thick girl. I am for the most part content with my body. When I returned from London I'd peaked at my highest weight ever due to not getting ANY physical activity and messed up eating habits that came due to my inability to deal with the time difference. It didn't help that I'm also dealing with PCOS (google it lol) which added an even bigger struggle to me trying to keep my weight within the so-called healthy range.

Anyway this post isn't about my weight history. It isn't to bitch and moan about me not losing weight because I am. What it's about, however, are persons who want the benefit of working out but don't want to put the work in. For the past 5 months I've been going to the gym 4-5 days a week for about 1 1/2hrs each time. I'm not always diligent (I've missed days on end at times) but I make sure that I am there. I got into a routine of going before I decided to aggressively attack my eating habits. I am not a bad eater. I don't eat a lot and I don't go off on junk food (admittedly I have a sweet tooth but shit...I'm bloody allowed!) so I knew that my diet could not have been the ONLY thing to blame as some assholes wanted to imply. So after 2 months of working out and no significant difference on the scale, I decided to cut carbs. Bread. Rice. Sugar. Crackers. Cakes. Cookies. I stopped eating it. Instead, I have vegetables and fruit and lots of protein (chicken breast and fish) and I MEASURE everything. After a week of this I lost 8lbs and my body started pulling itself together. That I am happy about.

And then...people start noticing.

"Ooh, what did you do? (I explain)

"But isn't that expensive? (In reference to the no carbs)

"OMG, I wish I had your dedication"

Now you see...this pisses me off. Why? Because it came from someone who attends the same gym that I do, comes to the same class I do YET isn't as consistent or dedicated or motivated to pull through because they only have a 'little' weigh to lose. Are you for fucking real??? If you want a particular result, why are you allowing the cost of having a healthy lifestyle outweigh the cost of having an UN-healthy one? When I'm in the gym (and these days the only one who bothers to show up for the aerobics lie) you're out galavanting and partying and sipping yes, I will lose weight and I will be more toned and I will look as if I found some 'secret' but I haven't. It's called hard work and discipline. That's it. Definitely not rocket science.

It was something as simple as switching out loads of pasta and replacing it with spaghetti squash, giving up coffee and sipping herbal tea instead and snacking on apples instead of any other nonsense I may have a craving for. Yes I have days when I want the bad stuff. Yes I have days when I eat them. But I allow myself that 'privilege' because I usually bust my ass at the end of the day to make sure I work that extra calorie off. I'm tired of hearing people 'talk' about wanting to do something. Just do it and get on with it. What do you really have to lose (other than the obvious)?

Updates/Where I've been/Upcoming posts

Well it's certainly been a minute. I've not been very busy but I am currently on vacation and recently returned from a trip to Trinidad and Tobago. So what have I been up to?

1. The bf and I parted ways. I've never talked about him in previous posts the way other bloggers do because I've been intent on keeping this blog limited to make-up and everything makeup related but it's been over a year and I've decided that maybe it's time to be a bit more personal with my posts...or maybe not...we'll see.

2. I did a mini makeup haul in Trinidad and I'll be making posts soon :)

3. I've been super obsessed with my Blackberry playbook lately and have been spending a lot of time just reading. I used to spend a ton of money buying books but these days I've been getting my fix through my playbook and this great (free) e-book site that I found called Free Book Spot. Even if you don't have an e-reader you can read from your PC (if you're so inclined). It's a fantastic site and I love it.

4. I LOVE Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series. I'm currently reading Shopaholic and Sister and it's hilarious! All the books are. I think anyone with a shopping addiction can identify with her (although she does go a bit overboard at times) and they're a perfect way to pass the time if you don't want to wrap your brain around anything with more depth.

5. I've been featured on yet another website!!! Quite an honor and I'm psyched to be on the Top 50 blogs for 2011. I found out because I usually take a look at my blog stats to see where my readership comes from and I was extremely elated to see that I was listed. :)

So that's me for now. I have a review (and pictures) of the UD Naked Palette to do, some NYX Jumbo Eye and Lip Pencil reviews, some SACHA cosmetics blushes and a few MAC lipsticks! I hope everyone's okay and stay tuned.
