Fragrance Lust

I've been searching the blogs for new fragrances. I've recently acquired Paco Rabanne's Lady Million but perfume for me is like shoes. You can never have enough shoes and you can definitely never have enough perfumes.

I've been searching for a bit of a signature scent. For a while I really liked Beyonce 'Heat' and rocked it like my own but I don't feel settled with it. I tend to like soft, fresh barely there fragrances...the kind you have to step in close to get a whiff of and not the strong overpowering type that smells like you took a bath in the stuff.

Here's a few that I've been looking at:

Vera Wang 'Lovestruck'

Burberry 'Body'
Jimmy Choo MK 2
Vera Wang 'Princess Night'

Viktor & Rolf 'Flowerbomb'

What's your favorite perfume? Your signature scent? Let me know!

---------> Discontinued<---------

I hate that word. Hate it as much as I hate Limited Edition. I know it's a sales ploy but for persons new on the make-up game (ie me) it's a bit frustrating to do a search, see a totally fabulous product only to find out that it was either discontinued or part of some never to return (but sometimes re-promoted) limited edition collection. What's even worse is that I have been tempted to pay the ridiculous e-bay prices just for the sake of owning said product (thankfully I haven't caved and hopefully never will). But these companies surely know what they're doing. I mean, why for heavens sake would they discontinue a product that is a cult favorite?

Case in point:

I am convinced that this is THE perfect red lipstick for me. Never tried it. But I love the way it looks. and now it will belong to those bunch of cult-love products that have reach discontinued fame :(

Next up
I want this soooo badly. I can't even trust ebay with this one because there are so many fakes out there that I'd blow a fuse it I spent an ridiculous amount on a fake product. Cyndi haunts me too. It seems as though every blogger on my list owns cyndi and sports her during those moments when I get hit with a 'I really need to get my hands on this' moment.

What about you? Any products that you wished you could have gotten your hands on but they're now discontinued or part of the LE stack? Products that you used to love that were heartlessly removed from shelves that have left you gutted? List em below

Guest Post: Top Tips Transforming Your Look from Day to Night

Hey guys. Today's guest post is brought to you by the lovely Saisha Potts over at Cafe La Moda.
Visit CafĂ© La Moda for makeup advice and chat to others about the latest beauty tips.

If you’re planning a night out straight after work, or heading out for drinks straight after a day of shopping, your day make up might not be the glam look you’re after. There are a few simple tricks that can be used to make the transition as easy as possible, and some key products to keep on you.

As your skin is more dewy in the morning it’s unlikely you’ll need much make up for a natural look, but as the day goes on your skin might begin to dry out and redden. Start the day by concealing any nasty dark circles under your eyes and disguise any blemishes. Use subtle tones for your eyes; add some mascara and a coat of natural lip gloss.

When it comes to the evening, use a moisturising foundation to help rehydrate your skin. You may find you have developed a rosy glow throughout the day so don’t go mad with the blusher. You can use highlighting make up on your cheekbones, or a blusher with a hint of shimmer to create a more dazzling night-time look.
Suggested product: whatever look you’re trying to achieve you definitely don‘t want shiny skin. Using a product such as MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural will help give you a matte finish and is great for a quick fix if you need it throughout the day.
So, your skin’s perfectly prepped for your night out, but what about the rest of your make up? Smoky eyes are still on trend (will they ever go out of fashion?) and easily transform a day look into night. Instead of sticking with black, you could try creating the look with shades of brown, gunmetal metallics or even try adding a splash of colour.

Cat-eye flicks were also a popular choice on the spring/summer 2012 catwalks and make a great stand-out look for nights out on the town. You could add extra volume to your lashes by using fake eyelashes, but who’s got time for that? Add an extra layer of mascara to complete your powerful-eyed look.
If you’re in such a rush that you don’t have time to perfect your smoky eyes, follow the golden rule and keep your eyes subtle but add instant glamour by applying red lipstick or gloss. Shades ranged from orange-tinted vermillion to classic Hollywood reds to darker, purple shades.
Some must haves for your handbag:

  • A small pack of face wipes with you just in case you need a clean slate for your night-time look. Q-tips are also useful for correcting any mistakes without having to start again.

  • A hairbrush to tame your tresses for a more groomed look.

  • A compact mirror just in case you don’t have time to waste in front of a public bathroom mirror.

  • You don’t want to carry your whole make up bag around with you so just take the essentials such as a shimmer powder, lip gloss, mascara, eyeliner and a smoky eyes make up kit.

    MAC's Kinda Sexy is....very sexy!!!

I'm becoming a bit of a lipstick ho'. I can honestly say that lipsticks are the beauty item that I drop way too much money on and I can never seem to get enough. We won't talk about my recent purchases that are on their way to me. I'm a little bit embarrassed about the fact that I don't wear a lot of what I have as often as I should *hands over face*

That said...I have one of my faves to show you today that I've been wearing a lot lately, especially for work. It's MAC's Kinda Sexy lipstick! Kinda Sexy is a matte formula (I'm beginning to realize that I love these) and is a pinky peachy kind of nude. I usually wear it with a brown lip-liner or one very close to my natural lip line, topped with a pink/nude/peach gloss. Of late, I've been wearing it with NYX's Smokey look.

And now zee swatches!! For reference I'm a NC45 (MAC), Cadiz (NARS) and Toast (Revlon).

Let me know if you've tried it. In the pictures I'm wearing MUFE HD #170, MAC MSF Natural (Medium-Deep), MAC's Satin taupe eye shadow, MAC's Gingerly Blush NYX Deep Brown eyeliner.

    Happy Sunday bellas!

    XOXO

I blush, you blush, we blush together!

Forgive the very corny post title but I've been obsessed with blush lately. I've been eying MAC's Raizin and Coppertone because I'm in need of a good matte blush that's still on the natural side. I use MAC's Gingerly a lot and while I LOVE it...I need something with a tad more oomph (mind you I dropped Gingerly this morning and my heart literally accelerated because I thought I'd broken her). If you have any suggestions (I'm an NC45 for reference) drop it in the comment box :)

    Girl Crush!

Gah! I love Kat Dennings! You would know her from Thor, Nick and Nora's Infinite playlist and 2 Broke Girls (love, love, LOVE this show)

She's gawjus! And I love that she has curves. I hope she doesn't cave to the Hollywood pressure and do a J-Hud move on us. I wouldn't like that at all :(

And she wearing the most amazing Red lippie on 2 Broke Girls. Do you watch the show? Any idea what colour she rocks??

    Spring 2012: Beauty Forecast

Yes, yes I know. We don't have 'spring' in the Caribbean but we do follow the trends to an extent and incorporate them to suit (or we should if we're into that sort of thing). I'm not sure if the Make-up trends really differ from season to season as I'm pretty sure that some of these existed last year around the same time. That would beg me to ask the question of whether or not trends really do change from year to year. I'm pretty sure Summer 2012 would be about pastels and ice-cream colours and bronzy skin/make-up again...but we'll see.

Here's what I've been noticing on the runways:

Dramatic lips (it seems that red lips will be making a huge comeback)

Modern Cat Eyes (I totally need to practice this)

    Power Brows (meeeeh)

    Extreme Smokey Eyes:

    Contoured/bronzey cheeks

    White Silver Metallics:

The rest of these trends can be found at the harpers bazaar website where these pictures also came from :)

Which ones would you be trying?
