February Favourites 2012

This month has definitely been focused on skincare. Apart from attacking my skin from within, I've been taking the time to truly care for my skin as the big 3-0 looms in the horizon. Here's what I've been using:

Huggies Baby Wipes: I love these. Inexpensive, strong and extremely gentle on my skin. Plus it has moisturizing properties and as my skin has decided to move from combination oily to dry...this works well!

NYX eyeliner in black-brown. This creates such a beautiful natural line. Less harsh than black liner.

Vitamin E capsules: I use these to treat the hyper-pigmentation on my skin. Works wonders. It's a slow process but my skin has definitely improved! I even gave my mom to use for her psoriasis and she has reported that it's cleared up her skin in ways that the various creams and ointments did not.

C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve: I use this more as a cuticle treatment than a lipbalm! My manicurists approves!!

MAC Bronzing Powder in Bronze: I"ve finally hit pan!!!! This never happens unless it's a face powder!

MAC Lipstick in Captive. A perfect daytime color for work.

Black Opal Concealer in Truly Topaz. Amazing product and gives great coverage but is a tad bit too dark for me. Great product nevertheless

Chap-stick 100% Natural lip-balm...LOVE this!!!! LOVE! Review to come! But this has replaced the Nivea Milk and Honey lip-balm for me

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Facial Moisturizer with Vitamin E and SPF 15

Great daytime moisturizer. Contains AHA and vitamin E which helps to give that youthful glow and protect your skin all at the same time!

So what have you been using? Any tips for the hyper-pigmentation issues? Let me know!

My Dear Friend's Wedding.

I had the honor of doing the make-up for the Bride and her Bridal party. My pictures do it no justice but I'll upload the official photos as soon as the photographer gets them to me. She looked stunning. Congratulations to them both!

St. lucia! St. Lucia! I *heart* you! MAC Haul

I flew to the beautiful island of St. Lucia for a two day meeting last week. I was excited about going for two reasons. One, I love my job and love interacting with various personnel in my field across the region and two, St. Lucia has a MAC store!!!!

Okay, okay, the island is beautiful too! But St. Lucia has a MAC store!!! And what was even better is that the hotel where I stayed was a 2 minute walk away from the Mall that housed said MAC store!! Gah!!

I used the opportunity to pick up a few bits that I didn't want to take the chance ordering online along with getting a lighter shade in the MAC Matchmaster Foundation (6.0). The shade I used previously was just a tad bit too orange for me...*sigh* The 6.0 is a bit light on my chin but nothing some MSF Naturaal won't fix. The mua Nakita was extremely helpful! I remembered her from model mayhem and had that deja vu I know her from somewhere moment. And on to the goodies!

Happy Sunday everyone! Have a great week!

DIY: Honey and Sea Salt Face Scrub

I'm on a bit of a health kick lately when it comes to my skin. I've been taking supplements geared towards healthy skin and hair and trying as much as I can to use products that are all natural or home-made. A friend of mine mentioned sea-salt and honey as a good facial scrub so I decided to give it a try. I know that honey has many healing properties which include helping to get rid of pimples, reducing scars and is often used to treat wounds/burns. I used coarse sea-salt and normal honey (blend) but i think you're supposed to use raw honey.

Now I don't have pictures of what I did but it's really simple. I took a bit of the sea-salt, mixed about a tea-spoon of honey with it and applied it to my wet face....and then I massaged it in for about one (1) minute *licks face* I then washed my face off and patted it dry with a clean towel.

Now first off my skin feels bloody smooth!!! Even now, touching my skin it feels amazing. To be honest, I didn't even want to moisturize because of how good my skin felt but I did anyway. Plus it smells amazing! Definitely something that you should try in your skin-care routine.
